(A62) Lifting Operations Crane Supervisor Course - Experienced Worker

Duration: 2 days / Dependent on Experience

Pre-requisites: It is recommended that delegates have 2 or more years operational experience on the machine.

Course Aims:

To provide thorough training on the responsibilities of a Lift Supervisor. To enable the candidate to competently and safely carry out the role and pass the CPCS Theory & Practical Tests.

Course Content:

  • Legislation, regulations and Codes of Practice relating to lifting duties
  • Safe systems of work including method statements.
  • Personal responsibilities.
  • Cranes,: Types and terms.
  • Crane documentation
  • Crane stability, duty charts and safety devices
  • Crane appreciation
  • British Standard 7121
  • Covers role of Crane Supervisor
  • Covers role of Appointed Person
  • Preparing an area, with exclusion zones
  • LOLER & PUWER

Test:

To achieve the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, candidates must successfully complete both the Health Safety & Environment Test for specialist supervisors (within the past 2 years) and the CPCS Theory & practical test.

CPCS Competence Card:

The Red CPCS Trained Operator card lasts for 2 years. AN N/SVQ in Controlling Lifting Operations will be required to progress to a Blue CPCS Card.
