The Red CPCS Trained Operator Card is valid for 2 years. In this time card holders are required to achieve the relevant SQA Award in order to upgrade to the Blue Competent Operator Card. Blue cards last for 5 years.
This programme is aimed at individuals who are currently slinging lifts in the work place. The N/SVQ is a mandatory part of the CPCS scheme and must be completed to upgrade to the competent operator card. For those who don't want to follow the CPCS scheme, the qualification can be undertaken to underpin their competency in the role of Slinger/Signaller.
Qualification Title: Level 2 National/Scottish Vocational Qualification in Controlling Lifting Operations - Slinger/Signaller (Construction).
To achieve the qualification candidates must gather naturally occurring evidence which would include some or all of the following:
On completion of the qualification certificates of achievement will be issued from the awarding body; SQA Awards. Provided the candidate has and in date Operatives Health & Safety Test the Blue Competent Operator Card can then be applied for. These cards last for 5 years.
There is no set time for the assessment process to take, candidates can work towards gaining the award at their own pace.
